How to enable the Web Application Firewall (WAF)?

The tutorial explains how to enable the WAF step-by-step.

The following steps will guide you through the process of how to enable the Web Application Firewall (WAF):

Step 1:

In the first step, we need to navigate to the Security page which is under the Settings page within the project's dashboard. You can visit the page by following the below path:

  • Dashboard

    • Service

      • Settings

        • Security

The following screenshots will help you better understand.

First, You need to open the project's dashboard from the main dashboard:

To reach the Security page, expand the settings menu by clicking on the dropdown menu, as shown below:

To navigate to the Security page, please click on the Security routing link, as the screenshot below:

Finally, you have reached the Security page. In the screenshot below, you can see the inner page for the Security page.

Upon reaching the Security page, you will see four sections

  • Monitor

  • Web Application Firewall (WAF)

  • Rate Limiting

  • Bot Management

For the purpose of this tutorial, we will use the Web Application Firewall (WAF) section.

Step 2: Enable the Web Application Firewall (WAF)

To enable the option, we need to switch the toggle button and click Save updates.

The WAF option should be enabled as shown in the screenshot below:

As shown in the screenshot below, once you have enabled the WAF, click on the Saves Updates action button:

The propagation period for this action can take up to 5 minutes for all regions and PoPs to be fully propagated.
